Marianna Kneller : John Clare's Majical World : to reserve a copy

'Clare's Seasons'

The Majical World of John Clare, illustrated worksThe Majical World of John Clare is a

complete antidote to the hurly burly

of modern day living.

In his Journal of 1825 John Clare

wrote that reading his favourite poets

was like 'meeting green spots in

deserts'. In this book, Marianna

Kneller creates her own oasis, 'a place

of calm, rest and replenishment', as she joins with her favourite poet,

John Clare.

For each month, there is a selection

of texts from John Clare's Shepherd's

Calendar as well as extracts from his

Journal of 1825, plus carefully

selected essays and poems relevant

to that month.

The poet's words and Marianna's

evoctive natural scenes and

beautifully detailed botanical

illustrations, plus her hand-scripted

texts, combine to create a majical

world of the passing year, chronicling

its changing moods and colours

through the seasons.

Known as the "Northamptonshire

peasant poet" during his lifetime,

John Clare is today considered the most important poet of the natural world in

English literature.

.... "The Majical World of John Clare"

was launched at The Five Arrows Gallery, Exbury, Hampshire in 2014 as part of the spring Art exhibition of which Marianna is the Founding Member. The first edition, which was privately published, has been very well received and has now sold out. A publisher is actively being sought for a second edition.
